To close 2024, I want to highlight a recent special report from Reuters where Aseel is featured in fighting hunger in the Afghanistan forgotten crisis. Mari Saito and Charlotte Greenfield visited Afghanistan and highlighted a few still fighting this crisis on the ground. I am very thankful to them for their efforts.
Since August 2021, Aseel has created the decentralized aid network led by the Aseel Heros (Atalan) and the Hope ID Cards (Omid IDs). These two critical systems, mixed with the rest of Aseel’s iOS and Android Mobile Apps, Web Stores, and the AidOS gateway for larger iNGOs, have equipped us to build on our foundations and grow our support for people going through a humanitarian crisis in 2025, In Full Swing! 🚀
On a personal note, starting in 2011, Every year, I create what I call my ‘yearly tracker’; it’s usually a list of 20 items or so that I need to do throughout that entire year. For 2025, I have a bold vision: to deliver support to 1 Million People living in humanitarian conditions while providing proof of delivery for every single family that Aseel supports.
Why is proof of delivery so important?
Proof of delivery (Photo, Video, or Document) in Aseel is a feature that I am proud of the most; we do not want to beat around the bush; we know humanitarian aid delivery is a very hard problem, and organizations like the World Food Programme, UNICEF, or larger iNGOs, many of which we are partnered with have spent decades trying to bring efficiencies and master aid delivery. Based on our research, we are the only platform globally that provides a transparent end-to-end delivery process in humanitarian settings with complete identification on the beneficiary end and proof of delivery on the donor end. We start at this standard and will build further throughout the year. You deserve to know who you are helping with your hard-earned money.
How will I measure my success?
Based on the data from around 10,000 families registered with Omid IDs in the Aseel ecosystem and my assumed zero-trust framework, below is how I do the math before I celebrate the million people we will support in 2025.
- -> 1,000,000 People Supported Going Through a Humanitarian Crisis
- -> 166,667 Families (Assuming six people in each family)
- -> Targeting Afghanistan, where we have the most coverage
- -> Expanding to at least 1 more country that is going through a crisis
- -> 166,667 Packages with an average cost of $80
- -> Total cost to $13,333,280
- -> Providing proof of delivery for every single order processed on Aseel
- -> From individual donors (You) using Aseel App or Website and Organizations using AidOS
The maximum support We have deployed in a single year in the past was $1.6M. I know this is a very ambitious target, and I am assuming an 8.3X (830%) increase compared to our best year. However, I am confident we can achieve this because we spent the last couple of years building the Aseel Infrastructure to support it. I am also convinced that the Aseel brand and you, our backers, will help us in achieving this goal.
